LEGAL TERMS

Terms of Participation

شروط المشاركة

Please read these terms carefully before purchasing a ticket. By participating, you agree to be fully bound by these conditions.

Important — Non-Refundable Contributions

All contributions are permanently non-refundable, including in the event of programme suspension, government restrictions, or personal withdrawal. Your ticket represents a Takaful (collective) commitment to the community pool. Please review Section 1 and Section 4 carefully before purchasing.

1. Ticket Price & Non-Refundability

Each campaign publishes its own ticket price and any discount. Review the final amount for your selected campaign at checkout. The confirmed purchase amount is saved with the order and does not change when campaign prices are later updated.
CRITICAL NOTICE: All contributions are strictly non-refundable under any circumstances. Once a ticket is purchased and your contribution is deposited into the ring-fenced CBE escrow account, that deposit is final and irrevocable.
This non-refundability applies broadly and unconditionally, including but not limited to: programme suspension, regulatory changes, government-ordered cessation, force majeure events (natural disasters, pandemics, political instability), the applicant's personal decision to withdraw, the applicant's disqualification, or any other event whether within or outside the control of NUR JOURNEY or its organizers.
The organising body — NUR JOURNEY and its affiliated legal entities — is fully protected and bears zero financial liability for the return of contributions once deposited into escrow.

2. Rollover Policy (Non-Selected Participants)

Participants who are not selected in the current round retain their position in good standing. Their original contribution will be rolled over into the next available community pool round, subject to the published participation terms.
This rollover is the sole and exclusive remedy available to non-selected participants in lieu of any form of cash refund.
Participants who do not wish to roll over into a future round must formally notify NUR JOURNEY support within 14 days of the round selection announcement. In such cases, the contribution may — at the sole discretion of the committee — be redirected to a verified charitable Islamic endowment (Waqf) fund operating in Ethiopia. No cash disbursement will occur.

3. Selection Process & Governance

The participant cohort for each round is selected via a transparent, randomised mechanism overseen by the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) and an independent third-party audit firm.
NUR JOURNEY organisers, staff, directors, and their immediate family members are permanently excluded from the eligibility pool.
The selection results are publicly announced and are not subject to appeal except in cases of demonstrable administrative error in the records.
By purchasing a ticket, you irrevocably acknowledge and accept that selection is not guaranteed, and that non-selection does not entitle you to a refund.

4. Programme Suspension or Cancellation

In the unlikely event that the NUR JOURNEY programme is suspended, cancelled, or prohibited by regulatory or government authorities, all unspent escrow funds will be handled as follows, in order of priority: (i) Settlement of any verified operational costs; (ii) Transfer to a designated Waqf (Islamic charitable endowment) administered by EIASC; (iii) Any remaining residual funds allocated to Zakat distribution to verified Ethiopian Muslim beneficiaries.
Under no circumstances will any portion of the escrow fund be returned as cash to individual participants following a programme suspension.
Participants explicitly and irrevocably waive any and all claims against NUR JOURNEY, its organizers, directors, affiliates, and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (in its capacity as escrow custodian) arising from programme suspension or cancellation.

5. Eligibility

Participation is open to Ethiopian nationals aged 18 years or above at the time of ticket purchase.
Participants must be Muslim, in good health, and hold a valid Ethiopian national ID.
NUR JOURNEY reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any participant at any stage and to disqualify any participant found to have provided false information. In such cases, the rollover policy applies; no cash refund will be issued.

6. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and irrevocably agree to be bound by these Terms of Participation in their entirety.
